What does Jon stand for?

I will keep Council honest

Charges faced by the former Mayor and Councillors have caused residents to lose faith in their Council. My commitment to you is that I will always advocate for transparency and accountability being at the core of everything Council does.

My track record as a whistleblower means I can be trusted with keeping Council honest.

Peace and safety

I believe we all deserve to feel safe in our homes and on our streets. Last term, I expanded the CCTV camera network and funded two all terrain vehicles so police can patrol our parks.

But more can be done - I will advocate for Council co-funding more police in our city on weekends and fixed speed cameras on local roads.

Family friendly city

I love living in Logan and raising my kids here. Logan is the youngest city in Queensland because so many people are raising their kids here, just like I am. Families come in all different shapes and sizes these days and that means we need to offer a broad range or activities across our city that cater for different age groups, abilities and interests.

By making our parks, libraries, services and facilities focused on families we create welcoming and safe places to create memories. I will keep families, and especially young people, front of mind when representing you in Council.

Listen to the community

You won't just hear from me during the election campaign, I'll come back to you afterwards as well. I’ll continue to doorknock so I can listen to your feedback and ideas.

Focus on local jobs

Logan is one of the fastest growing cities in Queensland. That's why it's so important to focus on development that generates jobs.

I introduced the Local Buy policy for Council to support local businesses. Our rates should be spent with businesses that are based in our city who employ local residents.

A fair go for renters

Lots of people in our area rent and they deserve fair treatment by Council. I support free trees and free dump vouchers being made available directly to renters rather than being sent to interstate investors.

I will enable inclusivity

Ensuring that people of all abilities, ages, cultures, backgrounds and religions feel welcome and safe is vital for our community spirit. I've done this through improving accessibility to parks, bus stops, schools and footpath networks for people with mobility challenges.

Cultural inclusion makes for peaceful communities and I've worked with our multicultural community to break down barriers and help them create connections with the mainstream community.

Invest in a sustainable future

With the development boom we're going through it's important to take practical steps to protect our wildlife and environment. I want to see our wildlife corridors and environmental reserves protected and enhanced.

All Council buildings should be covered in solar panels to lower the costs of electricity and help the environment.
