Movies in Park

Throughout 2018 I began a Movies in the Park initiative, partnering with community organisations to host family friendly movies in the parks around the area on Friday evenings.

The locations and community partners were:

• Waterford West State School P&C, Tygum Park

• Loganlea Community Centre, Sturdee Park

• Marsden Neighbourhood Watch, JJ Smith Park

These were free events supported by the Councillors Community Benefit Fund which covered the cost of the screen hire and movie license and allowing community organisation to raise funds through sale of food, drinks and glow sticks while giving the community an opportunity to come together.

These were very successful with attendances of 200-500 people depending on the location and the weather!

I also sponsored the Christmas Movie in Park Park hosted by Crestmead Neighbourhood Watch at Crestmead Park last year and I look forward to working with community organisations to deliver more of these types of events if I’m re-elected.
